Ampreet Singh
Optometrist, Entrepreneur, Clinical Director
Ampreet Singh is an optometrist by profession and the Clinical Director at 20/20 Eye Care in Mississauga. Accordingly, he is responsible for both patient care and the business/administrative tasks required to operate a successful clinic. For example, Ampreet Singh focuses on diagnosing, treating, and managing acute and chronic ocular conditions, conducting cataract surgeries, completing consultations for pre and post operative care, and speciality contact lens fittings. In addition, he’s responsible for inventory purchases, researching popular trends in frames, managing employees, and working with private insurance.
Ampreet Singh also has a history of advocating for his rights as a Sikh. In 2013, the National Board of Examiners in Optometry advised Ampreet Singh that he would either have remove his dastar during the clinical skills portion of the licensing examination or fail the board exam. With the help of the Sikh Coalition, Ampreet Singh successfully won a religious accommodation to use a non-standardized optometry instrument — allowing him to wear his dastar — to complete the clinical skills portion of the examination. In his spare time, he enjoys traveling, spending time with family and friends, cooking, watching football, and reading.
